This prompt immediately reminds me of a friend who’s been going through some difficulties with their relationship lately, in which setting boundaries is a theme. This clearly influenced my choice of colours for this painting, the warm red and the cool blue.
Setting boundaries can be a bit of a fluid thing and as people we tend to blur the lines sometimes and there’s definitely grey areas, which I depicted here by concentrating most of the pigment within the boundary of the red circle while also acknowledging that the blue is still visible outside of it.
I find that this painting is hard to explain in words, it’s more of a feeling for me, but I can end on the note that I’m very very pleased with how it turned out and to me it portrays exactly the feeling that I intended to capture.
