Let’s face it, I was never going to actually paint a realistic flame, so I knew right away that I’d have to get creative and think outside of the box for this prompt.
The colours of a flame is something that really excites me, so I figured I’d just play around with a gradient that includes all four of them; orange, yellow, purple and blue. I should have probably used a different blue pigment, one that isn’t as staining and granulating, but I still like how it came out.
As for the stains – we are just not going to talk about those. My tape failed me and I’m really starting to hate using it. If you know how to get crisp lines without damaging the paper and/or bleeding colour underneath the tape without having to compromise by using less water, please do let me know!
